Things to do

Beaches

One of the greatest treasures of St. Simons Island is its beautiful, unspoiled coastline. The island’s beaches stretch for miles along the Atlantic Ocean, offering a peaceful, natural setting that feels both relaxing and timeless. Whether you’re looking for a quiet sunrise walk, a family beach day, or a scenic bike ride along the shore, St. Simons’ beaches provide the perfect backdrop for making unforgettable memories.

Wide, Walkable Beaches

At low tide, the shoreline expands into wide, hard-packed sand that is perfect for long walks, jogging, biking, or simply exploring. The gentle slope of the beach makes it ideal for families with children, and the calm coastal atmosphere makes it easy to spend the entire day soaking up the sun and ocean breeze.

Stunning Sunrises

Because the island faces east, mornings on the beach are truly magical. Early risers are rewarded with breathtaking sunrises over the Atlantic, often accompanied by dolphins playing just offshore and shorebirds gliding along the water’s edge.

Natural Coastal Beauty

Unlike many crowded resort destinations, St. Simons Island maintains a relaxed, natural feel. Sea oats sway in the dunes, majestic live oaks draped with Spanish moss line the nearby streets, and the tidal rhythms of the Georgia coast create ever-changing scenery throughout the day.

Perfect for Every Beach Day

Visitors love the variety of beach experiences available on the island:

  • East Beach – The island’s most popular beach area, known for its wide shoreline and easy access.

  • Driftwood Beach – Famous for its stunning, weathered driftwood trees and incredible photo opportunities.

  • Quiet tidal inlets – Perfect for shell hunting, bird watching, and peaceful exploration.

A True Coastal Escape

Life moves a little slower here. Whether you're building sandcastles with the kids, biking along the shoreline, or enjoying a peaceful evening walk as the tide rolls in, the beaches of St. Simons Island offer the kind of simple coastal beauty that keeps visitors returning year after year.

When you stay on St. Simons Island, the beach isn’t just a destination — it becomes part of your everyday rhythm.
